after many attempts of writing and maintaining an ordinary blog (I am not a writer after all) I switched to a photo blog with maybe too much ambition and without a true theme. Now I hope to have found a niche of mine by combining photography and my passion for live music. You will find photos from both not so recent and quite new gigs. Still, my texts won't be much of a read and so I am looking for a "partner" who would write reviews and interviews accompanying my photos.

I count the Tuska festival in 2007 as a starting point in my live music photography. I had been doing smaller music shoots before like Elastinen in Nosturi (March '07) or some bigger ones like Tangomarkkinat ('05, '06 and '07), but this festival really sucked me in.
My first band to shoot in Kaisaniemi in the very heart of Helsinki was Dragonforce. Heavy metal and hard rock have not been really (and still are not) my first choices in music genres but I can take 3 days of rough going, in fact I do enjoy it enormously.

I stumbled upon these photos while trying to get some sense in my photo archive. Adobe's Lightroom seems to be a pretty handy programme. It's ridicolously easy to archive photos in overviewable collections and sets but I have not figured out yet how to tag multiple photos with keywords... one step at a time.

While I was browsing through my archive and looking for suitable photos for this first entry in some time I was listening to the Finnish band CMX and so it seemed quite logical to dedicate this entry to them. I had seen them live for the first time this July (2008) at the Ruisrock festival and had actually never really listened to their music before. But since the gig was quite impressive I decided to purchase some of their music.

So here is a visual round up of their gig.
